The Beam Magazine presents a mouth watering recipe, ‘Easy Homemade Donuts‘. A delectable snack, the kids are sure to love it.
1.5 cup warm milk
3 cups refined flour (maida)
2 tbsp powdered sugar
1 tbsp instant yeast
1 tbsp oil for dough
1/2 tsp salt
For filling and coating:
1 cup semi-sweetened dark chocolate
2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp milk
Oil for frying
Add half of the powdered sugar and the yeast in the warm milk. Mix it well. Cover and let it rest for 5 to 10 minutes.
The yeast is activated now.
Now prepare the dough. Take the refined flour. Add 1 tbsp powdered sugar and half tsp salt. Mix together. Add the milk. Start kneading the dough. Add half of the oil and continue kneading. You may add some water if needed. Add the remaining oil and continue kneading the dough.
Once the dough is prepared, cover it properly to avoid entering of any air. Set aside and let it proof for 2 hours.
After 2 hours, puncture the dough with your hands. Take out a small portion and roll it into a thick sheet. Once the sheet is prepared, take a small bowl or donut cutter and cut the dough in the shape of donuts. Prepare such donut shaped pieces from all the dough. Let them rest for 15 minutes
After 15 minutes, heat oil in a wok. Fry the donuts on medium to low flame until they turn golden brown. Allow the donuts to cool completely.
For chocolate coated donuts:
Now prepare a double boiler. Add the semi-sweetened chocolate and butter. Melt them together. Coat half of the donuts on one side with the chocolate.
For chocolate filled donuts:
Add 1 tbsp milk in the remaining chocolate. Mix it well. Pour the mixture in to a piping bag.
Cut a small incision in the plain donuts. Fill the donuts with the prepared chocolate filling. Sprinkle powdered sugar over them.
Refrigerate all the donuts for at least 10 minutes before serving.
